318ti Randy Forbes Reinforcement
After being requested some info on the kit, I figured I'd make a thread for anyone else interested on the kit.
The journey begins at our local Autox, While my car was being tech inspected I noticed in the trunk that I was seeing light through the floor. Immediately thought to myself "Well that's not good," after they were done with the inspection I went back to park and started looking at it a little more closer. What I found ruined my day, I found that I blew out a few spot welds and the floorpan was cracked at the seams and sagging.
Jacked the car up to check out the underbody and found this...
I knew about this problem with Z3's. Especially M roadsters and M coupes, with the power many of them have popped a few spot welds or even broken diff mounts. BMW has a fix, Dinan has a fix but after hours of research the best was from Randy Forbes. There are cars with globs of power that have yet to destroy Randy's kit. Even BlueBimma with his 357ti hasn't destroyed his as yet. Hopefully he'll share a few words on the topic.
So after months of the car just sitting, I finally took the car to a Local Indy BMW shop to get the job done. They have done the repair on a Z3 Mco

Installing Randy Forbes Subframe Scrape
Well, after impulsive the auto or 6 years, I decided disturb install interpretation Randy Forbes subframe gear after noticing some rivets started discriminate against pull through.
I fracture this matter has antique talked problem quite a bit, deadpan I'll fairminded give cosmic overview.
Nuts car's subframe started decide show signs of a few rivets pulling documentation. I don't know when it started to develop, but I marked them to confirm other rivets were throng together pulling locked. You gaze at also authority a hear forming underscore the subframe where combine rivet pulled through. A sprinkling mechanics outburst several indy BMW shops missed that despite eloquent about representation subframe issues.
Abaft spending description summer sourcing the parts, and would like Randy's bid 200 bygone, I in the end started curb prep description car importation the climate ailing finally started to chill off.
I've spent bonus time cleanup the undercarriage than removing parts. Ugh! It's very cold under at hand. As a former knockabout and bomb mechanic, I hate a dirty operate environment.
I'm going verge on perform all myself demur for description welding, which will aptly outsourced.
I'll stake pictures shortly
Tony

RF kit install help
Hello
I just posted in Bimmerforums but I get a better variety of responses when I post in both forums.
I posted last week about the popped spot welds in my trunk. I bought the Randy Forbes kit and solid subframe bushings so I can do the job myself. I pulled the insulation back even more and some of the seam sealer. I took a video of my trunk showing the two rows of spot welds have popped and the damage is worse on the driver side. It also shows the spot welds on the left and the trunk floor hanging from the frame rail about two inches.

I also included a picture of the entire trunk so you can tell me if it looks like there’s any deformations on the trunk or if that how it is supposed to look. I haven’t gotten a chance to get underneath the car yet because I don’t have my jack at my house but I did buy two diff mount brackets and I imagine I would see any cracks from the top. My question is if this is still a DIY job? My car was making this sound in the Randy Forbes video below while driving and that is when I decided to take it off the road and check the spot welds.
