Shāh Jalāl Mujarrad Kunyāʾī (شيخ جلال مجرد كنيائي),[1] popularly known as Shah Jalal (Bengali: শাহ জালাল, romanized: Shah Jalal), was a celebrated Sufi Saint, conqueror and historical figure of Bengal. His name is often associated with the Muslim conquest of Sylhet and the Spread of Islam into the region, part of a long history of interactions between the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.[2] Various complexes and religious places have been named after him, including the largest airport in Bangladesh, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Shahjalal University of Science and technology (SUST) and numerous mosques around the United Kingdom.

Various traditions and historical documents differ in his place of birth, and there is a gap of two centuries between the life of the saint and literature which attempted to identify his origin. Feroz Abbasi (born 1979) is one of nine British men who were held in extrajudicial detention in the United StatesGuantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba. He was released from detention and repatriated in 2005 and released by the British government the next day.
Allegations and internment
[edit]Abbasi was born in 1979 in Entebbe, Uganda to a Pakistani father and a Nubian mother (her Grandfather was from South Sudan)[1]later immigrated to the United Kingdom.[2] The U.S. government alleged that Abbasi attended four separate al-Qaeda training courses at the Al Farouq training camp, near Kandahar, and also at the nearby camp, Ubaida. He was taught urban warfare, assassination techniques, intelligence collection and surveillance. They allege that he volunteered to participate in suicide operations and met Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of al-Qaeda, three times.
