The committee will present its results by August in time to support an administration decision on the way forward.

    Wright: The day is May 20, We are in Houston, Texas to speak with Stephen Oswald, who is currently Vice President and General Manager of Intelligence and Security Systems for Boeing. This interview is being conducted for the JSC Tacit Knowledge Capture Project for the Space Shuttle Program. The interviewer is Rebecca Wright assisted by Jennifer Ross-Nazzal. Thanks again for coming in and giving up part of your vacation time to talk with us. Tell us how you first came to work with the Space Shuttle Program. We know you joined as a NASA employee and then became an astronaut&#;so if you wanted to give us some background information, how that evolved into the duties that you're doing now.

    Oswald: I actually had no interest in the space program at all; I just wanted to fly airplanes. So I joined the Navy to do that, and I think my interest in&#;or lack of interest&#;in the space program started because I'm pretty big, about 6'1". In in Seattle, they had a World's Fair.
